Item description from seller

A wartime analysis of Nazi Germany written by American journalist Louis P. Lochner, longtime Berlin bureau chief of the Associated Press and one of the few foreign correspondents who observed the Nazi regime from its earliest years. Drawing on his years of reporting inside Germany during the rise of Adolf Hitler, Lochner examines the political ideology, propaganda machinery, and international ambitions of the Third Reich. The book was published in 1942, during the height of World War II, and attempts to explain the origins and motivations of the Nazi state to American readers. Illustrated with photographsincluding an image depicting Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, and Ernst Röhmthe work offers a contemporary perspective on the internal dynamics of the regime shortly after the Night of the Long Knives purge of 1934. Lochner later won the Pulitzer Prize for his reporting from Berlin. Early wartime publications like this remain notable artifacts of American attempts to interpret Nazi Germany while the conflict was still ongoing. Cover has some cloth fraying on top front cover, see photos.
