Eight-year-old Jada loves her stuff. She always has her smartphone in her hand, completing the latest TikTok challenge or texting her friends. When she's not on the phone, Jada sits on the couch, streaming her favorite anime.
One day, Jada is shocked to discover the truth about Dad's childhood. For the first time, Jada worries that her favorite things will be just a memory one day. Will her beloved stuff become old objects in a dusty box, like Dad's? It's up to Dad to show Jada what matters most and how some parts of growing up will always stay the same.
What Did You Do, Dad? is a delightful story that dances backward and forward between the past and present. It gives young readers a glimpse into years gone by, helping them understand what childhood was like for their millennial parents. With vivid illustrations, this humorous and heartwarming tale allows them to laugh fondly at objects from the past; while helping them to appreciate the technological progress society has made. At the same time, it encourages its audience to be slightly less attached to their possessions and consider what is most important in life: friends and family. A nostalgic treat for parents, this charming book will be a wonderful read for children and adults alike.
