- Book 10 of 10: Elements of Great Maintenance Management
Not because you are incompetent. Not because you do not care. But because no one ever taught you what you
actually need to know about maintenance — and the decisions you make every day, without that knowledge, are
costing your organization millions.
Every budget cut to maintenance looks like savings on paper. It is not. Every delay in PM compliance looks like a
production win. It is not. Every time you reward the hero who fixed the emergency breakdown at 2 A.M., you are
reinforcing the very culture that created the emergency in the first place.
What Bosses Don't Know About Maintenance Will Cost Millions is the book that changes this.
Written by world-renowned maintenance expert Joel Levitt — CMRP, CPMM, CRL, author of over 20 books, trainer in 43 countries, and part of the SMRP Body of Knowledge — this is the first book written specifically for senior leaders
who are not maintenance experts but whose decisions determine everything about reliability performance.
After reading this book, you will understand:
• Why culture — not technology — is the single biggest determinant of maintenance performance, and what
that means for your leadership decisions
• The breakdown iceberg: why visible maintenance costs are a fraction of what breakdowns actually cost in lost
production, scrap, customer dissatisfaction, and morale
• Why cutting the maintenance budget almost never saves money — and what it actually costs
• What CMMS is, why most implementations fail to produce the returns promised, and the specific actions you can take as a leader to make yours succeed
• How to be a reliability leader — what it means, what it requires, and why it is as essential as being a safety
leader
• The six principles every manager must understand about maintenance — and the decisions they should
change immediately
• What defect elimination is, why it delivers an 11-to-1 return on investment, and how to support it without
getting in the way
• How to read maintenance metrics, tell the difference between leading and lagging indicators, and use data to
drive real improvement
• What your storeroom is really for, why it is not like retail inventory, and why the decisions made there ripple
through your entire operation
• The demographics crisis coming at your maintenance workforce — and what you need to do about it now
This book is not for maintenance managers. It's for the people above them.
Plant directors. Operations VPs. General managers. CFOs who approve maintenance budgets. Anyone in senior
leadership whose decisions shape whether the maintenance function succeeds or fails.
Part of the Elements of Great Maintenance Management series by Joel Levitt — the only maintenance book series
that covers every level of the organization, from the shop floor technician to the executive suite.
Your organization's reliability is not a maintenance problem. It is a leadership problem. This book gives
you the knowledge to solve it.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
