Hardback, Tall 8vo. 9 x 6 inches. In dark green cloth covers with gilt lettering to spine and front with printed pictorial designs. With later black morocco leather binding to spine and corners, with gilt decorations. Decorative endpapers. In very good condition. Later leather to spine and corners. Glue repairs after front endpaper and between rear endpapers. Some minor rubbing to corners. Else cover clean and smart. Some mild foxing to endpapers and halftitle, no penned inscriptions. A couple of minor marks to main title page. Some occasional minor foxing spots to pages. Plates all clean and bright, with tissue guards. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 280pp. With colour plates with titled tissue guards. Folding map at rear. Beautifully illustrated book on ?Wessex? The term is used to describe the area of the West Country, primarily Dorset, covered by the novels of Thomas Hardy and many of the paintings reflect this. An interesting history of the area.
