About this Item
1898 n.p. [Wesleyan Methodist Conference], 7 1/2 x 9 3/8 inches tall blue full leather bound, gilt border and decoration to covers, four raised bands and gilt decoration with gilt-lettered red leather label to spine, all page edges gilt, red felt endpapers, full-page engraved portraits of all primary Methodist leaders from its founder, John Wesley (1703-1791), through Hugh Price Hughes (1847-1902) on heavy stock with tissue guards, 277 pp. Covers rubbed and edgeworn, especially to tips. Tape repair to several tissue guards. Prior owner bookplate (of F.E. Maser, whose entry on the Texas Methodist Conference appears in the 'Encyclopedia of World Methodism') to front free-endpaper. Otherwise, apart from occasional very light foxing, a very good copy - clean and unmarked. An 1898 revised edition of this centenary memorial of the death of John Wesley, with numerous written profiles as well as the full-page engravings, most of which include the leader's signature in facsimile. Quite scarce; neither OCLC nor Copac list any copies of this revised 1898 edition. Note that this is a heavy and oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~EEE~. Seller Inventory # EEE-0641-862
