Paperback. September, 1923 Kirriemuir, Scotland. Lady Wally Carrington and Lady Willie Dorsett are invited to attend a weekend shooting party in Scotland with a noveau riche lord they've never met. A casual club acquaintance of Lord Remington, Wally's cousin, Lord Onyx's mysterious invitation is just what the women need to overcome their London summertime boredom. An extended weekend amongst the heather and the broom, the lochs and the highlands, kilts and bagpipes, what could be more relaxing? Add to these, a fabulous emerald, a renovated castle with secret passages, odd guests, a stepmother younger than her stepdaughter, ghosts and, oh yes, murder and leave it to the ladies to find themselves involved up to their tartans.
