About the Author: Patrick Kidd has written for The Times since 2001 and is the longest serving editor of the paper s Diary column, which he took over in 2013. He was also, until recently, the paper's political sketchwriter, a role once filled by Charles Dickens. He is the editor of The Times Diary at 50: The Antidote to the News (HarperCollins, 2016) and the author of The Best of Enemies: Whingeing Poms Versus Arrogant Aussies (Know the Score Books, 2009) and The Worst of Rugby: Violence and Foul Play in a Hooligans Game Played by Gentlemen (Pitch Publishing, 2009).
