The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light bumping, rubbing and wear. The text pages are clean and bright. "Mr. Floherty, who was also an artist, a photographer, a former art and editorial director and a former public relations man, has been called "a star reporter for American youth. "His writing led him to travel the equivalent of twice around the world, and he interviewed men in many jobs, from cabinet officer to cab driver, from patrolman to test pilot. He went to sea aboard the Coast Guard cutter Pontchartrain to observe the great hurricane of 1938. To get his stories firsthand, he lived in lighthouses, on lightships, with oil drillers, G-men and Secret Service agents. He was a friend of J. Edgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. His work with the Coast and Geodetic Survey led to a book, "High, Wide and Deep, " for which he received a citation from former Secretary of Commerce Charles Sawyer." (from Wikipedia).…
