Print on Demand. This book guides the reader through the complex history of water right laws across multiple states and explores the intricate legal concept of interstate water rights. The author adeptly analyzes the evolution of water rights throughout history, with a particular focus on the Platte River and its tributaries. Throughout the book, the author considers not only the legal complexities but also the physical realities of water flow and how it has affected the legal battles over water rights. This book is important for anyone with an interest in law, history, water rights, or environmentalism—particularly in the American West where water has had a profound impact on both society and politics. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

The law prescribing the work to be done by this Office originally provided for the investigation of the laws Of the-states and Terri tories as affecting irrigation and the rights of appropriators. Under this provision studies of the laws Of several of the States have been made. In 1903 this law was changed by adding to the above clause, and Of riparian proprietors. In response to many requests from the people interested in the control and use of water of the streams flowing east from the Rocky Mountains, a study of the laws affecting the distribution of the water of the Platte River and its tributaries was begun in 1903.
