Water, Land, and Forest Susceptibility and Sustainability, Volume 2: Insight Towards Management, Conservation and Ecosystem Services brings an interdisciplinary perspective to solving complex problems in sustainability, utilizing the latest research and technologies, and includes case studies that emphasize the applications of remote sensing, GIS, and image processing for addressing the current state and future needs to achieve sustainability. As forests, land, and water are among the most precious resources on earth, emphasizing the need to conserve them for future generations and, of course, a safe and sustainable planet. The assessment of the susceptibility of all these three precious resources must therefore be addressed to inform their sustainable management.
This second volume focuses on environmental management, conservation, and ecosystem services and provides information on forest, land, and water resources, presenting in integrated manner various aspects of their characterization, susceptibility, and sustainability.
- Presents theoretical context and practical solutions for understanding the current knowledge and where future efforts should be directed
- Includes case studies in each chapter demonstrating the use of geospatial technologies
- Offers an interdisciplinary approach to addressing susceptibility and achieving sustainability

About the Author
Professor Pradhan is a globally recognized expert in geospatial analytics and artificial intelligence applications in Earth and environmental sciences. Currently a Distinguished Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, he also leads the Centre for Advanced Modelling and Geospatial Information Systems (CAMGIS). With a PhD in GIS-based modeling, Prof. Pradhan has over two decades of experience in spatial data science, remote sensing, natural hazard modeling, and environmental monitoring. He has been listed among the world's top 2% scientists by Stanford University and received numerous international awards, including from IEEE and Elsevier. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS), he also serves on editorial boards of several top-tier journals. His research integrates geospatial AI and deep learning for disaster risk reduction, land use planning, and sustainability.
Suresh Kumar Kailasa, FRSC is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, Gujarat, India. He obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry (Natural Products) from Sri Krishnadevaraya University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India. He completed postdoctoral research at Chonbuk National University, South Korea, and National Sun Yat-Sen University, Taiwan, and joined SVNIT in 2009. He received the Young Scientist Award from the Taiwan Mass Spectrometry Society in 2013 and served as a Brain Pool Scientist at Chung-Ang University, South Korea, in 2017 and 2023. He has published over 230 peer-reviewed articles and holds a Taiwan patent. His research interests include analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, nanosensors, and functional nanomaterials.
Dr. Sourav Saha PhD is a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Saha is an early career scientist who recently completed his Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, USA. He also taught several Geology courses as an adjunct faculty member at Northern Kentucky University, USA. His research interests are focused on the use of geomorphic, geochronologic, remote sensing, and sedimentary tools to quantify surface processes, landscape evolution, paleoseismic, and paleoclimatic changes. His goal is to understand the dynamic interaction between climate, tectonics, and landscapes, especially in environmentally sensitive regions. He uses and develops a variety of geochronometers, especially luminescence and cosmogenic surface exposure dating techniques. He is also a member of the Geological Society of America, the American Geophysical Union, the American Quaternary Association, and several other international organizations.
Dr. Mohammad Zakwan PhD is presently working as an Assistant Professor in Maulana Azad National University, Hyderabad, India. He has published numerous papers and has a demonstrated history of working in Water Resource Engineering. He has been serving as an editorial board member and reviewer for various journals. His research interests include modelling of infiltration, modelling river water quality, sediment rating curves, stage discharge curves, computation of effective discharge and dominant discharge, climate change, trend analysis in water resources, river engineering, hydraulics, and hydrology of rivers. Dr. Mohammad Zakwan was a recipient of Gold medals during his M.Tech and B.Tech. He was awarded MHRD GATE scholarship and CSIR NET JRF scholarship for his M.Tech and PhD, respectively.
