Print on Demand. This book is an earnest and urgent abolitionist treatise, written during a time of rising tensions regarding the institution of slavery in the United States. The author, a free Black man from Massachusetts, was himself arrested and jailed under a law restricting the freedoms of free Blacks in the South. While imprisoned, he penned heartfelt letters to prominent abolitionists, and these letters form the backbone of this book. His story sheds light on the strategies and motivations of abolitionists in the North, as well as the brutal realities faced by free and enslaved Black people in the South. His insights into the nature of slavery and the fight for freedom are a testament to the resilience and determination of those who dared to challenge the evils of their time. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
