a sole proprietor "Schedule C" businessPAYMENT. Do not send payment with order, but payment in advance through a pro-forma invoice or quote sent by mail, telephone or internet is required. Payment by personal check, postal money order is acceptable (always in US funds.) Instruments of payment should be made out to "Warren F. Broderick" so do not use the word "Books" on any such instrument. Cash sent via registered mail or Western Union is accepted from outside the United States. I now accept PayPal. I do not accept credit card orders directly. Credit card orders must be placed through the Advanced Book Exchange (ABEBOOKS) web site, and the only acceptable credit cards are Master Card and Visa. Libraries and institutions are billed according to their purchasing policies.
DEALERS' DISCOUNT. Dealers can deduct 10% dealers' discount on orders sent directly to me only on the cost of books only (before shipping charges are added), except for a very few titles considered ¿bargain books¿ (see my web site for a list of these) which are NET to all. No dealers' discount is allowed on orders placed through the ABEBOOKS web site ........
SHIPPING EXPENSES. Postage and insurance (if requested) are extra. Because shipping costs vary greatly (especially for foreign shipments) due to size and weight of books, please contact me to discuss shipping methods and charges. Insurance is optional and involves an extra expense. All uninsured domestic media mail shipments include proof of delivery as part of the shipping cost. All foreign shipments include customs declarations.
PHONE AND E-MAIL ORDERS. Phone orders accepted evenings (5-10 PM, EST) and weekends at (518) 235-4041. Absolutely no phone calls received at work! E-mail orders are welcomed at wbroder2@nycap.rr.com. Also, you may print out and mail the order form found on this web site. Incoming fax is not available at present.
CONDITION OF BOOKS. Books are octavo in size unless otherwise noted. Condition is described in terminology commonly used in the antiquarian book trade. "Fair" or "reading" copies are the least acceptable for reference use. "Good" means the book shows wear but is basically sound. "Good+" books show less wear, while "v.g." books show little use. "Fine," "mint," "excellent" and "as new" are synonymous, meaning showing virtually no use at all. Overstock or remainder marks on book edges are not mentioned unless they are especially obnoxious. Dust jackets are v.g. unless otherwise noted. Mylar d.j. protectors may be present but are not listed. Books are not shipped "on approval!" Books are only returnable if serious defects (such as missing leaves or plates) are present and not stated so in this catalog. If in doubt about condition, please call to discuss the book in question, or don't order the title.
BOOKS LOST IN TRANSIT. If the shipment is insured, I will refund the total paid immediately and process the insurance claim myself. If not insured, I will split the loss 50/50 with the customer. Insurance is not required, but is recommended for domestic shipments of valuable books.
