About the Author: Bill Barker was one of nine children raised by good Christian parents in the edge of the Okeefenokee swamp in south Georgia. There were only eight people were in his senior class in a public high school. The school was so small there was no one to teach subjects many of the courses required for college entry, so he got a book and a cassette player and taught himself. He attended University of Georgia and earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. Immediately after college graduation, he was drafted into the US Army and served at the Allied Forces base in Central Europe. When his tour of duty was over he ended up in Central Florida, where he met and married the love of his life. Life was good. Bill worked as a pharmaceutical sales rep and he and his family were very active in a local church. In 1984, Gold called Bill into full time service. Selling our home and car and leaving all of our friends was tough for the whole family. On top of all that, we were moving into a small apartment and we had no income. After three years as a full time student with three part time jobs, he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity and no job. He soon moved to Dacula, Georgia, where he started a small non-denominational church and a large food ministry. Bread of Life Food Ministry gives away million of dollars worth of food, annually His small church has held consistently less than 50 in attendance. God smiles as He gets the glory for feeding all these people. He has done that before with a few loaves and fish. He also took great pleasure in using the small army of Gideon to defeat a huge army, that way He gets all the glory. Same thing here. There is no way for this rag tag group to accomplish anything locally much less globally and yet God has chosen to channel His power through this humble ministry. Over the years, he has helped build several churches in Ghana, West Africa and has seen the Seibel-Barker College, he co-founded in Kumasi, grow to over 400 students and become accredited to administer entrance exams for University study.
