First Thus. Works originally published during the author's lifetime in 1906, 1908 and 1914 and published as a set here in 1961. Six more volumes published posthumously. The three volumes are in Very Good Plus condition bound in green linen with titles and author in gilt on the spines. Very light wear on the covers. Volume 1 spine leans slightly. Light foxing on the edges. There is a sprinkling of foxing on the top edges of the first free endpaper in Volume 1. Otherwise, pages are in pristine condition, bright, crisp , smooth and unmarked. The bindings are tight. Includes the fold out facsimile Whitman will written in his own handwriting. Also includes illustrations in black and white. Lacking the slipcase. The author was an American essayist, poet; a close friend and Whitman's literary executor.

Friends of the Curtis Memorial Library, based in Brunswick, Maine is a non-profit corporation that exists solely to assist the Curtis Memorial Library in its many activities, principally through fundraising by the sale of used books. Operating through a retail outlet located at 200 Maine St. in Brunswick and through its on-line sales activities, Curtis Friends operates only with volunteers from the local community and sells only those books donated by its constituents. Curtis Friends has been in existence for several decades.
