Item description from seller

72pp. Sextodecimo [18 cm] Decorative tan boards with the title on the front board and backstrip in white. Near fine. Bookplate on front pastedown. This informal commentary by Stegner is based on recorded discussions engaged in by him before Dartmouth audiences, with Professors Jay L. Parini and A.B. Paulson and with visiting Author Ishmael Reed, during Stegner's period in residence at the College as a Montgomery Fellow in June and July of 1980. Wallace Earle Stegner (1909-1993) was an American novelist, short story writer, environmentalist, and historian, often called 'The Dean of Western Writers'. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1972 and the U.S. National Book Award in 1977, and through his writing program at Stanford University, influenced generations of writers (Edward Abbey, Ken Kesey, Wendell Berry, Larry McMurtry).
