About this Item
This 6.5 x 9.5, 273 page book is in near fine condition with a near fine dust jacket. This book is in truly beautiful condition with virtually no issues to mention. The book is virtually as new - - the cloth cover is bright and clean, the dust jacket with virtually no wear or chipping and is presently protected by a mylar cover. This is one of the many valuable Western titles by Arthur H. Clark, and this particular title covers the overland immigration of 1844 to Oregon. The eight-page forward by Merrill J. Mattes is valuable in itself as Mattes has long been recognized as one of the foremost scholars on the Oregon Trail. This book contains several valuable maps and photographs, not only of people involved in 1844, but includes many of the author's photos of contemporary sites along the trail. This book has established itself as one of the better sources of information on overland travel to the Pacific Coast. Although the condition and desire for this book suggests a higher price, we wish to offer it at a lower cost as an honest bargain to today's collector. 273 pages. Seller Inventory # 1505-386
