Item description from seller

Fox Park, Wyoming, 8 1/4" x 10" matted photograph with Laramie, Hahn's Peak and Pacific Railroad in the foreground done by E. N. Rogers (1864-1950). Fox Park lies west of Laramie in the Medicine Bow Mountains. In 1901 planning and construction of the Laramie, Hahn's Peak and Pacific Railway began by Boston financier Isaac Van Horn and Fred A. Miller. Financing was slow and it took until 1907 to reach Centennial. The line was originally built to serve the area?s gold, platinum, and copper mines, but the mines had been worked out by the time the railroad reached Centennial. The operators then turned toward coal mines in northern Colorado, moving through Walden, Colorado in 1911, and terminating at Coalmont, Colorado, some 111 miles from Laramie. Edward Neville Rogers and his family moved to Laramie in 1904 and purchased a photo studio. "Rogers Studio" was on the second floor of the old Thobro Building at 311 S. Second Street. According to an ad in Vol. XLI ? 1909 of The Photographic Time he advertised his studio in Laramie for sale "In Sunny Southern Wyoming ? Studio for Sale. $2,000 - but well worth it. Sure Money Maker. E. N. Rogers, Laramie, Wy." The studio was sold to Miss E. V. Hull in 1917. Words on verso of photograph read: "For Jeanette from Grant." Mat corners are lightly bumped, image of Fox Park is fine and bright. Overall in near fine condition.…
