Add to basketTHE WRITINGS OF JAMES RUSSELL LOWELL, 8 volumes of 10. Published by Houghton, Mifflin and Company - Boston & New York - 1891 & 1892. Size 7.5" tall James Russell Lowell (1819-1891) was an American Romantic poet, critic, editor, and diplomat. He became involved in the movement to abolish slavery. Lowell used poetry to express his anti-slavery views and took a job in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the editor of an abolitionist newspaper. In 1857 he became editor of The Atlantic Monthly. In 1877 he was appointed ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain. He was later appointed ambassador to the Court of St. James's. Overall in near fine condition - individual volumes vary. All volumes with top edge gilt, half calf, marbled boards, marbled pastedowns & endpapers, with 5 raised bands on spines, and gilt titles to spines. There are no bookplates and no internal markings. The bindings are tight, with sound hinges & joints. Vol. 1 - Literary Essays I - condition fine, with frontispiece & tissue guard. Front free endpaper has gift inscription and light pencil bookseller note. Vol. 2 - Literary Essays II - condition very good +. There is a short closed tear to FFEP, and scuff to spine. Vol. 3 - Literary Essays III - condition very good +. There is a short closed tear to FFEP. Vol. 6 - Literary and Political Addresses - condition fine. There is a general index at back of volume. Vol. 7 - Poems I - condition fine, with frontispiece & tissue guard. There is a light pencil bookseller note on FFEP. Vol. 8 - Poems II - condition fine. Vol. 9 - Poems III - condition fine, with frontispiece & tissue guard. Vol. 10 - Poems IV - condition fine.

If you use this option, we will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.

Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel with contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.

The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
