The aim of the doctoral student yearbook of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation is to create the scholarship holders a mostly first platform for their scientific work and critical discussion initiatives. Because the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation sees itself as an educational institution that enables students and doctoral candidates to produce new knowledge by promoting scientific work. The doctoral student yearbooks document this educational process in a process by presenting important projects and results year after year. The self-understanding that underlies this consists of a dialectical concept of education and science: science is political, must emerge from the ivory tower, that is, it is intervening, or preserves the unity of theory and practice in order to put itself at the service of society. Science must be engaged and normative without having to settle for the accusation of unscience. Above all, it must protect itself against being instrumentalised by dominance interests. Because education is on the one hand the formation of itself, on the other hand the formation of the social whole. It is not only about understanding the world, but also changing it by comprehension. These processes are never completed, therefore in the truest sense of the word WORK IN PROGRESS and WORK ON PROGRESS.
