The Golden Library No. 29 - second printing of this edition - 'Reset to conform to the War Economy Standard 1942' stated on the printer's page, in the original and fragile thin gold dustwrapper. The book was first published by William Heinemann in 1924, and then reprinted by Chatto & Windus in 1932 and 1935. First issued in the Golden Library in November 1941, and reprinted in 1942. ***Very good in brown cloth-covered boards with titles on a gilt panel on the spine. The gilt is still nice and bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper. The boards are clean and unmarked. No creases. No bumps. Top edge of page block stained maroon by the publisher. Corners sharp. Internally the book is also very good with no inscriptions. The interior pages are clean with no foxing. No creases or tears. Spine tight. ***In a very good original dustwrapper, illustrated with a Chatto & Windus falcon on the front panel. The dustwrapper is remarkably complete, considering it is printed on such thin paper - just some slight loss at the top and tail of the spine - not affecting the lettering - and the corner tips. The dustwrapper has a 7/- publisher's label over the original printed price on the spine. Edges of dustwrapper show some creasing and rubbing commensurate with age and handling. Spine of dustwrapper slightly darkened. Dustwrapper bright. ***183 pages. 215mm x 145mm. ***'Margaret Emma Faith Irwin (27 Mar 1889 - 11 Dec 1967) was an English historical novelist. She also wrote a factual biography of Sir Walter Raleigh. Her novels were esteemed for the accuracy of their historical research, and she became a noted authority on the Elizabethan and early Stuart era. One of her novels, "Young Bess" about the early years of Queen Elizabeth I, was made into a film of the same title starring Jean Simmons.' Proof of postage is obtained for all items, however, we cannot be responsible for items lost or damaged in transit. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Orlando Booksellers, Lincoln, United Kingdom, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging materials; any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only; for the UK, our standard rate is for first class, and the priority rate includes tracked (signed for) delivery; for International sales, our standard rate is for Airmail delivery, and the priority rate is for tracked (International signed for) delivery. We would prefer that you choose the priority rate (tracked option) for higher value books of say £50 or more. Please note that we will always reduce shipping fees where appropriate e.g. for smaller (lighter) books when we accept your order. For heavier books and sets etc. we will often 'soak up' the extra cost, but on occasion, we may need to charge more than the quoted shipping fee. However, customers will always have the option to either accept or decline the revised order amount. We will also reduce the overall shipping fee for multiple orders. We will endeavour to ship all books within two business days of receiving your order.
