This volume forms part of the 2026 edition of the Complete Collection of works by the prolific and enlightened author William Walker Atkinson. Each book has been introduced and annotated by M.C. Mesen, a renowned scholar and translator of Atkinson’s works, who has also prepared a study guide for the collection.
Volume One opens the collection with eight foundational works from Atkinson’s New Psychology Series, offering a wide-ranging exploration of the human mind, consciousness, character, health, and personal development. Together, these books introduce many of the ideas that would define Atkinson’s later writings on New Thought, mental science, self-mastery, and the practical power of thought.
Atkinson examines the structure and functions of the mind, including perception, memory, imagination, attention, will, instinct, intuition, and the conscious, subconscious, and superconscious planes. He presents the mind not as a fixed mechanism, but as a living instrument whose faculties may be observed, trained, directed, and strengthened.
Several works explore the intimate relationship between mind and body, including the influence of thought, expectation, emotion, and suggestion upon health and vitality. Atkinson also considers self-healing through mental discipline, the development of inner consciousness, and the cultivation of habits that support greater balance, confidence, and self-command.
The volume further examines human nature and character reading, showing how temperament, expression, behavior, and mental habits may reveal the inner tendencies of the individual. These teachings are presented not merely as abstract psychology, but as practical tools for clearer thinking, deeper self-knowledge, and a more intelligent understanding of others.
Together, these eight books form a comprehensive introduction to Atkinson’s psychology of the mind and its influence upon the body, personality, relationships, and everyday life. They are essential reading for students of New Thought, practical psychology, consciousness, mental training, and personal transformation.
The books included in this volume are:
The New Psychology: Its Message, Principles and Practice
Your Mind and How to Use It
The Subconscious and the Superconscious Planes of Mind
