Personal Magnetism, the Master Mind & the Solar Plexus — Four Books
This volume forms part of the 2026 edition of the Complete Collection of works by the prolific and enlightened author William Walker Atkinson. Each book has been introduced and annotated by M.C. Mesen, a renowned scholar and translator of Atkinson’s works, who has also prepared a study guide for the collection.
Volume Eleven opens the Theron Q. Dumont series with four powerful works devoted to personal magnetism, mental mastery, influence, concentration, willpower, and the development of inner force. Written under one of Atkinson’s most important pen names, these books present a practical system for strengthening personality, directing thought, and cultivating the qualities that allow an individual to exert greater control over himself and greater influence upon others.
In The Art and Science of Personal Magnetism, Dumont explores the qualities that create presence, confidence, attraction, and personal influence. He examines the role of thought, will, emotional control, self-possession, and mental projection, presenting magnetism as a faculty that may be consciously developed rather than as an mysterious gift possessed by only a few.
The Advanced Course in Personal Magnetism develops these principles further, offering more intensive training in concentration, suggestion, mental influence, and the deliberate direction of personal force. Together, the two books form a progressive course in the cultivation of charisma, self-confidence, and mastery of interpersonal influence.
The Master Mind expands the subject from personal magnetism to the broader development of mental power. It examines concentration, visualization, will, desire, persistence, self-discipline, and the conscious organization of thought toward definite aims, presenting the trained mind as one of the principal instruments of personal achievement.
Completing the volume, The Solar Plexus; or, Abdominal Brain explores Atkinson’s ideas concerning the solar plexus as a center of vital, emotional, and nervous activity. The book reflects the period’s fascination with the relationship between mind, body, vitality, and the subtle forces believed to influence human health and behavior.
Together, these four works offer a concentrated study of Atkinson’s teachings on personal power, mental discipline, charisma, influence, and self-mastery. They are particularly valuable for readers interested in personal magnetism, New Thought, mental science, concentration, willpower, and the psychology of influence.
