Item description from seller

144 pages. Hardcover: H 14.75cm x L 9.25cm. Original quarter cloth binding; reddish-brown cloth spine with marbled paper over boards. Cloth spine stained, ends frayed with shallow loss, spine's gilt stamping dulled and flaked with some title lettering now indiscernible. Boards rubbed with wear along edges particularly at corners. Rippling to pastedowns; foxing and staining to leaves; a few page corners creased; a few stress points to binding but otherwise firm. OCLC locates only two copies at member libraries. "Fifteenth Annual Report of the Board of Publication of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America" (Philadelphia: 1853), page 38, entry #346 summarizes this book as "a memoir of a Highland soldier, the vicissitudes of whose life displayed, for a period, of malignity of sin, and ultimately the triumph of grace, both in himself, and through his instrumentality in many others" also noting a print run of 2000 copies at two different prices, the latter probably indicative of two different bindings.…
