About this Item
Map of Togatabu, main island of Tonga, with manuscript letter written on verso, and souvenir illustrated envelope. Letter reads, "I arrived in Toga Tabu (sic) on Sept. 6, 1942. When I got over on land, I rented a horse all day. I went about six miles out met six children playing a ukulaule (sic). I stoped (sic) and talked to them for nearly three hours. There were one or two pretty girls. she just wore a little skirt. I sure enjoyed myself." Envelope is illustrated with a grass hut, coconut palms, sailboat and caption, "Souvenir of Tonga, Friendly Is." No address, stamps affixed but not franked, and ink stamp of Togatabu. Map/letter 7 1/2 x 9", envelope 9 x 4". Letter and envelope dusty, otherwise good. Seller Inventory # 27957
