Vue d'optique, ostensibly of Boston. General wear and scattered light staining. Small area missing at top right corner in margin, outside of the plate line. Hand-colored fanciful view of a long street in Boston, clearly done by an artist who had never actually seen the city or had any idea of what it looked like. The street as shown is lined with 2 to 4 story stone buildings, all in a northern European style facing onto a wide boulevard. The title at the bottom is rendered in Dutch and French, which the title "Vue de Boston" at the top is printed in reverse. Lines at the left-hand corners indicate that this was number 11 from the Collection des Prospects. Seller Inventory # m01551
