Von Herbert Ingram und Mark Lemon 1842 gegründetes, zunächst wöchentlich erschienenes englisches Magazin, das erst mit der Dezemberausgabe 2003 eingestellt wurde. Das Magazin war das erste langfristig erfolgreiche Periodikum, das seine vor allem bürgerlichen Leser regelmäßig mit aktuellen Bildern des Weltgeschehens versorgte.- Um den steigenden Erfolg der Zeitung zu feiern, wurden in dem hier vorliegenden Jahrgang von 1856 erstmals einige Farbbeilagen veröffentlicht.- Zu Beginn jeder Ausgabe mit rotem Zeitungssteuerstempel (Newspaper tax stamp).- Es fehlt 1 Farbbeilage aus der Ausgabe vom 18. Oktober.- Stellenweise schwach stockfleckig bzw. leicht gebräunt, zu Beginn mit kleinen Wurmspuren im Fußsteg. The magazine was the first long-term successful periodical that regularly provided its mainly middle-class readers with current images of world events.- To celebrate the increasing success of the newspaper, some color supplements were published for the first time in this 1856 volume.- At the beginning of each issue with red newspaper tax stamp.- 1 color supplement from the issue of October 18 is missing.- Faint foxing or slightly browned in places, with small worm marks in the foot margin at the beginning.
