In fair condition. Moderately wormed throughout vellum and text. Ex-Library. Spine top segment suffers loss with damage to base of spine as well. Marginalia in old hand, possibly from a child practicing their penmanship (charming!) , on title page and sporadically throughout. Text toned on edges. Worm damage, while it may look aesthetically displeasing, does not effect text too badly. The integrity of the object remains despite these flaws. Binding tight and intact. From the press of Gabriele Giolito de Ferrari with printer s decide of Phoenix rising from the flames and motto Semper eadem ( Always the same ) de Ferrari was one of the first major publishers of literature in the vernacular Italian language. He is particularly famous for his 1555 edition of Alighieri s Commedia. This is his edition of the Cyropaedia, a partly fictional biography of Cyrus the Great founder of Achaemenid Empire, the first Persian Empire.
