About the Author: ROD STEPHENS is a software engineer specializing in graphical user interface design, algorithms, and database systems. He also writes a column on Visual Basic algorithms for the newsletter Visual Basic Developer. Previously a senior member of the technical staff at GTE Laboratories, he has developed several award–winning systems using state–of–the–art algorithms and graphical user interfaces. He has also researched and taught algorithms at MIT.
