The collection brings together will abstracts along with related genealogical sources such as deed and court minute extracts, plus a selection of pieces concerning Virginia wills probated in England. An index facilitates use of the assembled materials, making scattered periodical contributions accessible in a single reference for researchers tracing colonial and early Virginia families. This contains virtually everything pertaining to estate records ever published in the leading Virginia periodicals. Also incorporated in the collection are a number of articles containing abstracts of various companion records--court minutes and deeds, for example--as well as a smaller group of articles dealing with the probate of certain wills in England. Their appearance here--along with an index of 27,000 entries--will spare the genealogist the trouble of searching through hundreds of out-of-the-way volumes and save an untold amount of time in research.
