About this Item
Two volume edition of the works of Virgil with commentary by Peter Burmann published in Leipzig. With vellum binding in very good condition: while the vellum needs to be cleaned, there are no holes or tears. The corners do have bends and there is some toning to the pages. Inside the front is a bookplate commemorating the awarding of the set to Joanni Gottlob Krause on April 7, 1791 as the Samuel Christmann Hollmann Award for diligence and excellence. There is some minor foxing, and toning from age. Writing inside front of name of previous owner (Lewis/1884). A very nice set in very good condition with pages legible and intact as well as a very nice binding.Very Good Condition: 8vo: 2 volumes: vellum with some bends to the corners and in need of cleaning: mild toning and occasional foxing: frontispiece of Virgil in volume one: occasional and very light foxing; award inside front and names: P.
