Ex-libris plate stuck to front pastedown, belonging to John James Purnell. Book includes title page and first few pages, the rest more recently made into a secret storage compartment with music box activated when book is opened. Functioning movement with key included. Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Thumb-marking present. Rear board is slightly coming loose from glued text lbock. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light crushing to spine ends. Visible sunning to spine and edges. Noticeable peeling leather to spine and edges.
