Vincent Van Gogh Starry Night Dreamer
Step inside the painted world of Vincent van Gogh—and discover why the sight of the stars made him dream.
Vincent van Gogh Starry Night Dreamer introduces children to one of the world's most beloved artists through Van Gogh's extraordinary paintings, gentle storytelling, and lyrical rhyme.
Journey with Vincent through a world of swirling stars, glowing cafés, golden wheatfields, brilliant flowers, cypress trees, and moonlit skies. Along the way, young readers discover the imagination and determination of an artist who continued to create—even when others did not understand his work.
Vincent van Gogh once wrote:
“The sight of the stars makes me dream.”
In Starry Night Dreamer, those painted stars become an invitation for children to dream, imagine, create—and keep going when something they love isn't easy.
You paint below the moon and sky,
And look as if you're about to cry…
Deep inside your heart is aching,
For no one wants to see your paintings…
But Vincent keeps painting.
If you keep painting they will see
Your bright-lit stars and painted dreams…
And before long, children are invited into the dream themselves:
For just before the sun would rise,
You'll paint for me the starry nights…
And show me how it's magical,
With blazing lights and vibrant glow.
Part art book, part storybook, and part celebration of imagination, Starry Night Dreamer offers children an approachable introduction to Vincent van Gogh and the remarkable paintings he left behind.
