Two volumes in one of views of collegiate and church architecture, richly illustrated. Thomas Rickman's copy, signed to the front free endpaper. Rickman was an English architect and a major figure in the Gothic Revival.An important copy. Rickman was fabled for having studied over three thousand Gothic Churches at a time when the Gothic was not considered worthy of serious study.Two volumes in one of Views of the most Interesting Collegiate and Parochial Churches in Great Britain including Screens, Fronts, Monuments.The first volume is by both John Preston Neale and John le Keux, with the second volume just by John Preston Neale.The volumes contain historical and architectural descriptions of the views with the first volume illustrating Great St. Mary's in Cambridge, Campden Church and St Albans Abbey Church amongst others and the second volume exploring All Saints in Oxford, and Marlborough Church.With fifty four plates to the first volume and forty four to the second.Collated, complete. In half morocco binding. Externally, worn. The rear board is missing and the front board is detached but present, spine is also missing. Rubbing to the extremities and spine. Previous owner inscriptions to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound with generally bright pages with scattered spots throughout. Fair.
