Views from the Cockpit: The Journey of a Son is a memoir born from pain and reflection. Page by page, year by year, tender father-son memories of airplane watching transform into a nightmarish, turbulent family drama. With nearly 1,000 new words and added insights, the 5th anniversary edition dives deeper into the heart of the author's journey.

Upon the discovery that his father had been the victim of elder abuse as his health was rapidly deteriorating, the author finds himself reevaluating the decisions his father made throughout his life. This probing dissection of a man he thought he knew reckons with disloyalty, despair, and unspoken words. The unshakable ending remains, but the new edition adds more complexity to interpersonal dynamics.

Through sharp, sometimes hilariously brash analysis, decorated in plane metaphors and imagery, the author bares his soul, expressing his commitment to truth with sincerity and transparency. He reaches for forgiveness, understanding, and compromise in the face of uncompromising rigidity. The additional words add deeper emotional layers to these reflections, making the journey more relatable and profound, inviting the readers to share his emotional journey.

Ultimately, he contemplates a different "flight path" from past lessons and encourages readers to do the same. The enhanced narrative explores new angles of his father's legacy, offering a more nuanced perspective on forgiveness and understanding.

A must-read for sons, fathers, families, or readers who appreciate robust and emotive writing, this anniversary edition offers a compelling narrative. It sparks deeper conversations about family dynamics, forgiveness, and personal growth.

Review

"...Ross Victory is a talented writer. He has written a compelling page-turner in a style that is personally reflective. Victory's representation of his father bursts with love and awe. The questions of family, loyalty, honor, and truth emerge and will resonate with just about everyone. With an incredible ending that you must read to believe, this book does not disappoint." Michael McConnell, editor, Penguin Random House

"The book expresses strong passion, which makes for good writing. Clearly, Ross' heart is in the book and rarely lacks emotion..." Glenn McMahan, Endeavor Literary Services

"I purchased Views from the Cockpit around 2pm on a Sunday. I was finished reading the book 8 hrs later around 10pm. The book was just that good I couldn't put it down." Review from Amazon.com

"Ross Victory paints pictures with words as vivid as any artist alive right now. The insight, reflection, and pathos of his journey are evident on every single page. There is sadness in this story, but there is also an abundance of hope." Review from Rossvictory.com
