It is often assumed that people who live in monasteries are either exceptionally holy or exceedingly strange. Monks are just ordinary men, explains warm-hearted storyteller Br. Benet Tvedten, and some of them are as quirky as the rest of us. This charming book is an insider's look at some of the cast and characters in a modern-day monastery. You are advised not to read this book if you will be disappointed to learn that monks are fully human and always fallible. But if you enjoy a good story about real people who just happen to have chosen a remarkable way of life, you will be delighted. A Seven Storey Mountain for the contemporary reader. --Jon Hassler Fascinating and delightful. --The Dallas Morning News.
