Print on Demand. In this memoir, a boy named Victor shares his upbringing in 19th-century Europe. The child of devout Protestant parents, the author provides a unique glimpse into the religious tension that existed in the region, as his beloved French aunt and his Protestant friends do everything in their power to make up for the psychological absence of Victor's father. The author skillfully juxtaposes the religious beliefs of Victor's community with the real world struggles and emotional challenges he faces upon the death of his parents. This powerful memoir provides insight into the hypocrisy and bigotry that existed within religious communities and demonstrates the power of compassion amidst adversity. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
