About the Author: John H. Bodley (MA, PhD 1970, University of Oregon) is Regents Professor Emeritus at Washington State University, where he taught from 1970 to 2013. His research interests include indigenous peoples, cultural ecology, and contemporary issues with an emphasis on complexity, scale, and power.
