Real-world ethical dilemmas vets actually face – and how to think through them with confidence.
By Siobhan Mullan and Anne Quain, with a foreword by Sean Wensley, Veterinary Ethics: Navigating Tough Cases tackles the ethical questions that arise every day in practice – not just the dramatic, headline cases. What should a vet do when a client can't pay? When asked to weigh in on wildlife culling? When witnessing an animal welfare issue off duty? This book equips you to combine personal values with professional conduct, grounded in real veterinary life rather than an idealised one.
What you'll gain:
- Real scenarios, real responses – answers from practising veterinarians and acknowledged world experts in animal welfare and ethics
- Practical, thorough guidance – covering the emotional, ethical, legal, and regulatory dimensions of each case
- Multiple ethical frameworks – clear exploration of different philosophical schools of thought applied to veterinary care
- A challenge to your own thinking – structured to test how you would decide, and why
- A genuinely different approach – moving beyond theory into transparent, everyday decision-making
A fascinating, page-turning read that leaves one pondering things for days after. – Veterinary Record
