Die Verwandlung ist eine im Jahr 1912 entstandene Erz�hlung von Franz Kafka. Die Geschichte handelt von Gregor Samsa, dessen pl�tzliche Verwandlung in ein Ungeziefer die Kommunikation seines sozialen Umfelds mit ihm immer mehr hemmt, bis er von seiner Familie f�r untragbar gehalten wird und schlie�lich zugrunde geht. Kafka gelang es in der Nacht vom 22. zum 23. September 1912 die Erz�hlung in nur acht Stunden in einem Zuge zu Papier zu bringen. Im sp�teren Urteil der Literaturwissenschaft hat Kafka hier mit einem Schlag thematisch und stilistisch zu sich selbst gefunden.

About the Author

Franz Kafka (1883 -1924 ) war ein deutschsprachiger Schriftsteller. Sein Hauptwerk bilden neben drei Romanfragmenten (Der Process, Das Schloss und Der Verschollene) zahlreiche Erz�hlungen. Kafkas Werke wurden zum gr��eren Teil erst nach seinem Tod und gegen seine letztwillige Verf�gung von seinem Freund Max Brod ver�ffentlicht. Kafka verbrachte den Hauptteil seines Lebens in Prag, das bis zum Ende des Ersten Weltkrieges im Jahr 1918 zum Vielv�lkerstaat der Monarchie �sterreich-Ungarn geh�rte und nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg Hauptstadt der neu gegr�ndeten Tschechoslowakei wurde. Der Schriftsteller selbst bezeichnete sich in einem Brief als deutschen Muttersprachler.
