More than just a super hero novel...
Jose Nieto and I were trying to create a novel that went beyond the basic super hero punch-'em-up that you get in most comic books. We wanted to examine the "real" world in terms of the Marvel universe -- what's it like being a cop in the MU? a terrorist? We also took a look at issues of identity, of nationalism, of loyalty. And we also had lots of punch-'em-ups because, let's face it, it's still a super hero novel. But it's also (we hope) a compelling mystery/police procedural, and we think that it will have appeal beyond (though still including) Spider-Man fans. We hope you'll give it a try.
