Many people have problems with their legs - from aching/tired legs and swollen ankles to varicose veins, from lumps appearing to skin discolouration and leg ulcers to name a few. Sometimes symptoms and signs are obviously due to veins - and other times people might be unaware of hidden varicose veins. However with 30-40% of the adult population having some venous dysfunction, venous disease is behind a lot of leg problems.
Vein Health and Problems in Lockdown and Isolation has been written by Mark S Whiteley, an internationally recognised expert in varicose veins, leg ulcers and venous disease.
In this book Mark goes through:
Why a lockdown or isolation can worsen leg problems
What symptoms and signs you might notice during a lockdown
How the leg veins work
What can go wrong with leg veins
What problems varicose veins and hidden varicose veins can cause
How to look after your vein health in a lockdown or during isolation
What you should do if you notice certain symptoms or signs during a lockdown or isolation
Vein health and problems in lockdown and isolation will help the reader understand venous disease better - and help the reader identify which symptoms and signs might be venous disease, and how urgently they need to be treated.
Some sections such as how to look after the vein health in a lockdown are quite specific for these stressful times, whereas most of the book is relevant to anyone with venous problems, even if they don't know their symptoms and signs are due to hidden varicose veins!
