Red cloth with gilt lettering and black bat vignette to front board. Minor edgewear, tips of corners rubbed. Several small spots to boards. Previous owner signature to front pastedown in pencil. Bat decorated endpapers. Frontis illustration with tissue guard, decorative cover and decorations by Blanche McManus. Text is clean and bright, no marks. The verses- as suggested by the painting by Philip Burne-Jones, first exhibited at the New Gallery in London in 1897.
