In einer Studie von Blum IR aus dem Jahr 2002 wurde hervorgehoben, dass die trockene Alveole durch eine erh�hte Fibrinolyse entsteht, die zur Aufl�sung des Blutgerinnsels f�hrt, das f�r eine ordnungsgem��e Wundheilung entscheidend ist. Der Zustand ist mit Schmerzen aufgrund freiliegender Nervenenden, durch Gewebetraumata freigesetzten Kininen und m�glichen Infektionen verbunden. In dieser Studie soll die Wirksamkeit von Zinkoxid-Eugenol (ZOE) und Kurkuma bei der Behandlung der alveol�ren Osteitis bewertet und verglichen werden, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf der Schmerzlinderung, der Heilungszeit und der Patientenzufriedenheit liegt. Die Studie umfasste eine randomisierte klinische Studie mit 60 Patienten, bei denen nach einer Zahnextraktion eine trockene Alveole diagnostiziert wurde.
