pp. 200 including 48 coloured plates. Original dust jacket very good with a little general wear and rubbing, lightly marked, not price-clipped, now protected in a clear removable archival sleeve. Original beige cloth binding with black lettering, very good. Contents good and tight, no inscriptions but with light spotting and foxing, a little more pronounced to first and last few pages. A very good tight copy. [The plates of the first printing were lost during the Second World War and a reprint issued later in 1946 of which this is one, though dated 1938 as the first edition. Very few copies of the first edition exist - in the first edition the word "ex." appears at the end of the first line of the frontispiece caption whereas in the reprint it appears at the beginning of the second line, additionally the reprint is bound in a finer-weave cloth binding.] Size: 4to.

We are taking a break while we re-locate ourselves and business. We move to a peaceful stretch of the River Lynher. We specialise in fine antiquarian and second-hand books with a strong interest in Natural History, particularly the New Naturalist Series. If you come across any issues when searching for a title please contact us via our email loe@loebooks.co.uk or telephone us on 01566 782528. Offers always welcome and given serious consideration. We are not a formal shop but visitors are welcome by appointment. We are situated about 9 miles south of Launceston, close to Bodmin Moor. It is a beautiful part of Cornwall, so even if you do not find the book you are looking for a visit is worthwhile for the countryside alone!…
