Print on Demand. This book celebrates the 300th anniversary of Uppingham, a prominent English public school. Founded by Archdeacon Johnson in 1584, the school made slow, steady progress until the arrival of Edward Thring as Head Master in 1853. As this commemorative volume looks ahead to the next century, it imagines Uppingham continuing to innovate, producing notable scholars and leaders, and maintaining its position as one of the most prestigious schools in the country. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …
