Upgrade Your Brain – The Science-Based Path to Smarter Living
The bestselling neuroscience guide for people who think for a living.
Why do we make poor decisions when tired?
Why is it harder to focus in cluttered spaces or under stress?
And how can small changes in light, rhythm, and movement dramatically improve our clarity, creativity, and memory?
In this evidence-based, engaging, and practical guide, neurosurgeon and researcher Dr. Witold Polanski takes you deep inside your most powerful asset: your brain. Drawing on hundreds of primary studies in neuroscience, psychology, and human performance, Upgrade Your Brain shows you how to think more clearly—not through willpower, but through intelligent design.
You’ll learn:
-
How your circadian rhythm shapes mental sharpness
-
What distractions and noise do to your prefrontal cortex
-
Why movement boosts focus and cognitive flexibility
-
How music affects memory and learning speed
-
What stress does to your logic—and how to reverse it fast
-
Why your brain runs on rhythm, repetition, and rest
-
How to align your environment, routine, and attention with your brain’s natural function
Each chapter combines cutting-edge science with powerful stories and real-world strategies. You'll discover how to:
-
Optimize your workday based on neurobiological peaks
-
Improve decision-making under pressure
-
Build memory through spacing, sleep, and sensory input
-
Train attention and resist overload in a distracted world
-
Create brain-friendly spaces that reduce friction and fuel focus
-
Design sustainable routines that strengthen mental clarity—day after day
Whether you’re a student, executive, creative, or coach—if your success depends on how well you think, this book is for you.
You don’t need more apps, more willpower, or more hours.
You need a smarter approach—based on how your brain actually works.
Clearer thinking is not a gift. It’s a practice.
And it starts here.
