Item description from seller

Ringbinder. More than 200 years ago, following their druel exile from Nova Scotia, the Acadians found new homes along the bayous and on the broad prairies of southwest Louisiana. The language, customs and traditions brought from their homeland are still in evidence in these areas of the state; French is still the predominat language in rural communities of St. Kandry, Vermilion, Iberia, Evangeline and Lafayette Parishes. Here, in this cradle of Acadian culture, hospitality is worm, ebullient; relatives, friend, casual acquaintances - even strangers - may not leave an Acadian home without partaking of something, usually 'quelque chose douce' with a cup of strong, hot coffee, sweetened in the pot. In this book may be found recipes for Acadian delicacies that have been handed down for six generations. These are 'quelque chose douce' of limited variety, concocted by the pioneer Acadian women with whatever was at hand. The recipes are being pubished in book form by popular request. Included are recipes for pies, cakes, cookies and pastries, with a few miscellaneous recipes for 'lagniappe. Illustrations. 63 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).…
