Keying Interest
Unlocking Medical Terminology serves as a key to discovering a new language, in a fun, eye-catching, yet scientifically precise way. The book is designed to be used as a text to support lectures, or as an independent student workbook. The flexibility of its application is made possible by the book's text-like format combined with its self-guided, exercise-driven learning program.
Wingerd uses a stair-step approach that mirrors the way that many people learn. Instead of assuming you will absorb volumes of information in one step, this book presents topics in smaller pieces. Self-quizzes give you the opportunity to master the information before you build upon it in the next section. This approach allows you to work at your own pace and ensures success.Keying Interest!!
As any good teacher knows, making the subject interesting, fun, and relevant can make a world of difference. Unlocking Medical Terminology by Bruce Wingerd does just that!!
This dynamic new worktext uses two techniques to ensure the most successful learning experience.
Makes Learning Fun!
Interesting and engaging applications presented in an interactive, self-study format to increase your understanding of medical terminology
· Decoder key to reveal the hidden answers on each exercise page
· Crossword puzzles and word jumbles in each chapter
· Case studies
· Challenging games and quizzes, along with flashcards, videos, and animations on a feature-packed CD-ROM that comes free with each book.
2) Stair-Step Approach
A progressive approach that mirrors the way many people learn. Instead of assuming you will absorb volumes of information in one step, this book presents topics in smaller pieces. Self-quizzes give you the opportunity to master the information before you build upon it in the next section. This approach allows you to work at your own pace and ensures success.
Each step is organized around the core elements of learning medical terminology: word parts, anatomy & physiology, and word building.
· “Word Parts Focus” breaks down the essential components of terms in each chapter.
· “Getting to the Root of It” takes a close look at word roots, which are the basis for many basic anatomy & physiology terms.
· “Let’s Construct Terms” assembles all the word parts presented throughout the chapter and builds more complex words relating to pathology conditions and procedures.
