Print on Demand. This book, excerpted from an early 20th-century travelogue of an unnamed French author, illuminates the then-nascent Anglo-French entente through the lens of the author's experiences visiting an English family in their suburban home. Over the course of a few weeks, the author engages with the family, including a young woman named Miss Baring, who converts to Catholicism and invites the author to stay at her home in Wimbledon. The book's chapters offer unique insights into the domestic life and social customs of an upper-class English family, as well as the author's developing bond with Miss Baring. Through their conversations and shared experiences, the author explores the differences and similarities between the French and the English mindsets, shedding light on their burgeoning relationship during a key period of global change and the dawn of international reconciliation. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

When they have to go for their business affairs, they notice nothing but the bad climate and the grey skies, and they return home with the pleasant conviction that every thing is better in their own country.
