The debut monograph from award-winning and acclaimed architecture and interior design practice Universal Design Studio - and the perfect expression of this award-winning studio's ethos and approach: to design from the inside out
Universal Design Studio has spent two decades redefining the way people live, work, and interact. With offices in London, New York, and Shanghai, its diverse portfolio includes collaborations with world-renowned brands Stella McCartney, Ace Hotel, IBM, H&M, Google, Fortnum & Mason, and The BBC Office Group, and each project is underpinned by a rigorous research and development process. The book includes sketches, renders, archival and reference images, details, and drawings, which sit alongside stunning finished building and interiors photography, offering a holistic view of how the practice works and thinks. In addition, insightful and engaging texts, as well as a series of conversations with key Universal collaborators, are used to to demonstrate how fundamental design is to creating better spaces, better experiences, and better cities.
Part manual, part manifesto, the book is organized into three thematic chapters - Human, Rigorous, and Transformative - which together create a fascinating, multilayered depiction of an innovative contemporary design practice.
